Things I’ve Learned From Listening To Metal For 6+ Years.
- Deciphering band logos is an art form.
- Bands who include lyrics in the inserts deserve some shiny, metallic award.
- Bands who put out 1 album then disappear from the face of the Earth for 15 years instantly achieve cult status (i.e. Winter, The Body)
- Once you start listening to metal, you join a new, yet equally as fucked up, family.
- It is totally acceptable for grown men to bunny-hop across stages butt-ass-naked.
- You’re hearing will turn to shit.
- It’s physically impossible to “turn down” metal.
- Reunions are ALWAYS possible.
- “Farewell Tours” are really just “We’ll see you in a couple years” tours.
- Danny Lilker is God.
- Metal is essentially just a huge cluster-fuck of musicians who all play in eachother’s bands.
- You cannot merely say “Slayer”, you’ve got to cut it into your flesh and then pour the blood on the carcass of a goat.
- Security guards are easily bribed for those bad-ass “you are 21” wrist-bands.
- You will develop a strong love of beards and beard-related things.
- The smaller the venue, the better.
- Drummers make the funniest motherfucking faces in the entire world.
- If you’re on limited income, DO NOT BUY VINYL. It’s an addiction.
- It’s totally acceptable to eat Ramen noodles for a month just so you can go see Obituary.
- Metal will save your life.
